Plumbers and pipefitters assemble, install, maintain, and repair many different types of pipe systems.
Military Training
All enlisted service members complete basic military training which includes time spent in a classroom and in the field and covers tactical and survival skills physical training military life and customs and weapons training. Plumbers and pipefitters in the Military will gain skills through classroom study and on-the-job experience. Job-specific training content may include:
- Installation operation and repair of pipe systems
- Installation and repair of plumbing fixtures boiler controls water purification and distillation systems
- Maintenance and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Methods of soldering welding silver brazing and cutting
