Career Field: Personal & Culinary Services (Officer)

Personal and Culinary Services officers help foster a positive work environment and peak physical and mental performance through proper nutritious food preparation and service. These officers create menus, budgets and recreational opportunities for service members and manage the staff of food service and recreational facilities. Military culinary training is equivalent to some of the best civilian institutions, and these officers are called upon to organize gala events as well as everyday meals and activities.

The Military takes great interest in the overall well-being of its service members. Personal and Culinary Services enlisted personnel provide a positive work environment through proper nutrition and recreation. These service members are the president’s chefs and event planners, feeding and directing functions for admirals, generals and dignitaries from around the world, in addition to service members and their families. For instance, culinary specialists can feed more than 5,000 people per day on a large ship.
