	Active duty means a service member’s commitment is their full-time responsibility and occupation. These service members often live on or near bases, ships and other military installations.	Reservists are part-time service members. This flexibility allows them to pursue a civilian career or college education while simultaneously serving their country.	This part-time component focuses on providing security and relief during national emergencies such as storms, floods, fires and other natural disasters.	In exchange for a paid education and a guaranteed career, this college program prepares young adults to become officers in the U.S. Military and requires them to serve after graduation.	Also known as senior military colleges and maritime academies, these institutions offer a fully-funded, world-class education and a deep understanding of military culture in exchange for a service commitment after graduation.
