Sgt. Jeremiah Workman: Why the military for me? Because I had always planned on going to college [00:00:05] when I got, I guess, after my freshman year. [00:00:10] I didn't come from a poor family, but we weren't rich either and my dad just looked at me and said, [00:00:15] you know, "We don't have the money to pay for your college." And I guess I just [00:00:20] didn't take the initiative at the time to look into the loans and [00:00:25] grants and things, so I automatically started leaning [00:00:30] towards the military. You know, my dad was kind of putting it in my mind too, just because he has served [00:00:35] in the Army, so that's how the ball got rolling and I kind of [00:00:40] forgot about college. I guess the one thing I love about being a Marine and one thing [00:00:45] I love about the Marine Corp is I think it's safe to say that we're the most [00:00:50] respected fighting force in the world. Everywhere we go in the world people know [00:00:55] who the United States Marines are. And I guess just the fact that the Marine Corp let me [00:01:00] join the ranks, and the fact that I was able to serve in combat [00:01:05] with the Marine Corp is pretty amazing because we have a long line of [00:01:10] tradition and history and we're just a respected fighting force. [00:01:15] So just to be a part of it all is justSometimes I think about it [00:01:20] and I consider myself lucky and I thank God every day that he led me to the Marine [00:00:25] Corp.
