Army

Sgt. Mildred Rodriguez: My father said I couldn't do it. So I wanted to prove to him that I could. [00:00:05] And I did.

SSgt. See Yong Cheow: I picked Army Reserve because before I joined the [00:00:10] military I was already married and this is what fits my family life. [00:00:15] I didn't want to leave my wife because it's not fair to her. But all that came into [00:00:20] consideration, she was going to school, she was going to be a nurse. I didn't want to just pull away from her, [00:00:25] her family and her comfort zone and then just move her to different countries [00:00:30] and restart all over again. So that's why the reserve works for me.

Lt. Duval Tyson: One thing I love is putting on a uniform. [00:00:35] You feel like you're superman sometimes when you put it on. That's how I feel at least. [00:00:40] As a kid, I used to see my uncles in their uniforms and I always wanted to be part of that. And when the [00:00:45] opportunity arose when I was around seventeen, I decided I wanted to join.

Sgt. Mildred Rodriguez: [00:00:50] I wanted to join the Marines at first, but I decided that I didn't want to [00:00:55] join the Marines; that the Army was a better choice for me. I was debating what I should do in the military. [00:01:00] I didn't know whether they had different types of job. They didn't have anything, fashion design, [0:01:05] or nothing like that so I had to choose what I really wanted to do. I debated whether I [00:01:10] should go or not, and then I made my final choice after 9/11.
